Zen Garden will be hosting its annual most fashionable 7th FASHION HIGH TEA event celebrating Haute Couture in Kenya on Saturday 25th February 2017 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm. The previous six Fashion High Tea events boast rave reviews on pizzazz, style and execution. We’ve had sell-out crowds consisting of high profile guests and personalities. The events have received extensive media coverage both locally and abroad!
We can’t wait to experience yet another extraordinary day with you this February!
Love for a Cause
In line with our previous events, which have supported various charitable causes. This year, we will be supporting Imani’s Children’s Home in Kayole – a home that educates, nurtures and transforms the lives of abandoned and orphaned children. As well as Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), which is a grassroots movement that catalyzes large-scale transformation in urban slums (Kibera, Mathare & Mukuru) by providing critical services for all and education and leadership development for women and girls.
What to expect this year
Staged amid the lush gardens of Zen, the Runway is going to be extravagant, with intimate table seating for all the guests to enjoy. Gorgeous models will strut the catwalk in stunning couture from both local and international designer labels.
As usual, Zen will be creating an elaborate High Tea Menu. The lavish menu will include a Sushi Bar, Cheese Corners, Ice Cream Bars and Burger Stations. There will also be Beer, Wine, Champagne & Cocktail Bars for all the guests to enjoy!
Look out for the unique Fashion & Floral Installations, creating the perfect backdrop for photography!

Rui Yamashita is the surface designer behind Kangarui. She was born in Japan, raised in Kenya and her life experiences are reflected in each of her designs. A quirky fusion style, filled with colour and often with animals found in East Africa, she wishes to spread her safari love around the world. Her passion has always been to get dirty and be creative by exploring all sorts of materials and tools, playing heavily with layers. Her designs are currently sold at Urban Outfitters, Target, BHG, Houzz, and many other stores worldwide, with her own exclusive line available in Kenya.
The name 'Kangarui' sounds like an animal often found in Australia, but it is actually a combination of Kanga (or Khanga, a traditional textile from Kenya, often used as headscarves and sarongs) and her first name, Rui. Kanga-Rui.

There she explored metal smiting, wax molding, jewellery design and trend forecasting.
